What'll He Get?

Arreola

Jose Arturo Arreola-Lopez, (who is now 25), killed a U. S. Border Patrol Agent in Mexico.  Arreola crushed the Agent's head with a fifty pound rock.

Today, he was handed-over to Mexican Federali at POE Nogales, Arizona.

Arreola was 17 when he committed the murder of BP Agent Jorge Salomon near Bacocahi, Sonora while Salomon was vacationing there.  The murder took place simply because Salomon was a known U. S. Border Patrol Agent.

It is informative to note that Arreola was found in a jail cell in Minnesota where he had been arrested on a drug rap.

Currently, there is no death penalty in Mexico.  There is, however, talk of re-instating it for kidnapping, rape and murder.  It seems that some Mexicans are concerned that the Cartels need to have clamps placed upon them.  Also, there is no such thing as life imprisonment in Mexico.  One particularly famous Mexican was recently awarded a 27.5 year sentence for murder.

Maybe we can hope that Senor Arreola gets a couple of years.  Coupled with time off for good behavior, he can be back in the United States in no time.  All of us know what he looks like now.....  My goodness, I keep forgetting: there is no more Old Patrol.
